Àirdan are a rising voice in the world of Scottish traditional music. Their high energy grooves and dynamic arrangements see melodies and riffs juggled between fiddle (Paul Sinclair), accordion (Coll Williamson), guitar (David Lennon), and drums (Ewa Adamiec). Formed in 2021, Àirdan’s journey began in the heart of Edinburgh’s thriving live music and session scene, where their shared passion for traditional music – and for pushing its boundaries – brought them together. Their sound is shaped by the acoustic energy of late night Celtic sessions, enriched by influences from travels to far flung corners of the globe.

Àirdan have already made their mark with performances at iconic festivals including Eden Festival, Moniaive Folk Festival, and Knockengorroch Festival, and were chosen as a “Highly Recommended” act at Celtic Connections’ Danny Kyle Open Stage. In 2024, they celebrated a sold out run at the Acoustic Music Centre as part of the Edinburgh Fringe.

Àirdan’s debut album “Cosmic” was released on 30th May 2025 to critical aclaim. In Cosmic, Àirdan captures the spirit of a new generation embracing tradition, while simultaneously charting their own musical constellation. The album has been praised by audiences and reviewers alike for its creativity, musicianship, and joyful spirit. Cosmic charted at #32 on World Music Charts Europe, was chosen as top Album of the Month by Le Canard Folk, and Album of the Week on multiple radio stations, while the title track was selected as BBC Introducing’s Track of the Week on BBC Radio Scotland’s Travelling Folk

Lorne Lofsky is literally a living legend, having toured and recorded with Oscar Peterson, Joey DeFrancesco and…wait for it…Chet Baker!

He’s also perhaps more widely known in guitar circles as working and recording with the great Ed Bickert (guitarist with Paul Desmond).

Nigel Price is one of the most highly regarded and in demand guitarists on the UK jazz scene today.

He spent three years with UK funk legends – the James Taylor Quartet, was voted No.1 in the 2016 British Jazz Awards for “best guitarist” and is also a regular performer at Ronnie Scott’s, where he’s played around 600 times.

Joel Barford is the hottest drummer on the scene right now. Despite his young age, his boundless energy and startling prowess has already been thrilling audiences up and down the country and around the World.

Completing the quartet is double bassist Jeremy Brown, who is definitely the first call for visiting international stars, and this means his CV is absolutely stunning. Rightly so. He always has a cool head under pressure.

Tommy Sands, from Northern Ireland, is renowned throughout the international world of folk music as a steadfast supporter of the peace process and trying world-wide to make our lives better through encouraging dialogue to arrive at, “a better quality of disagreement”, as Tommy puts it.

Described as a ‘social activist’, Tommy travels widely carrying this message everywhere through his disarmingly mild presence on stage fronting his determination not to be deflected from what he believes in. Tommy is unique in his expertise in song-writing and in presenting his songs to quite diverse audiences from the Middle East to the USA via Europe including of course the island of Ireland and the rest of the United Kingdom.

Tommy has appeared at New York’s iconic Carnegie Hall and Madison Square Gardens to Moscow’s Olympic Stadium. He enjoys celebrity status in many parts of the world, tempered by artistic integrity and the sorrow of personal tragedy in his war torn homeland. Tommy has consequently become one of Ireland’s most powerful songwriters and enchanting performers. He shares a vision with songwriters instigating social change such as the late Phil Ochs, Joan Baez, and close friend the late Pete Seeger and with the internationalists like the late Hamish Henderson from Scotland.
